Previously ministering in the Golden Cap Team, a group of 12 churches in Salisbury Diocese, Jane has experience as Vicar and Chaplain in four Diocese since 1984. Originally ordained into the Lay Order of Deaconess, Jane has been amongst the first women to be ordained as Deacon and then Priest. Married to Stephen, a fellow ordinand of Cranmer Hall, Durham. Chaplaincy has been in prison (Haverigg, Cumbria) and hospital ministry (Carlisle and Swindon). Jane enjoys walking, finding the rugged North Devon coast inspires ideas about pilgrimage but hopes not to follow in St. Nectan’s footsteps too closely!

Revd. Madeline Bray - Team Vicar (part-time)

Madeline was licensed on 12 February 2018 as part-time Team Vicar to the whole Mission Community but with pastoral responsibility for Alwington, Buckland Brewer and Parkham, and resides in Parkham Vicarage (alongside the Chapel).  Madeline was ordained in 2013, and served as curate and then Associate Priest at St Mary’s Bideford.  She has one son Mike, married to Helen, and they have one son and live near Taunton.  Madeline spends one of her days off looking after her grandson (the other day off recovering!).  Having been brought up in Cornwall, Madeline has lived in N Devon for well over 40 years – so nearly a local!

Revd Jane Hayes - Associate Priest (part-time)

Originally from Essex, where she worked as a Teaching Assistant, Jane moved with husband Bill to Hartland in 2013 to begin training. Jane and Bill have two grown up daughters, one grown up son and a grandson born to their elder daughter in 2018. They share their house with a large, affectionate, ginger and white cat, and the grown up son.

Jane trained for Ordained Ministry with the South West Ministry Training Course. She completed her training and was ordained in Exeter Cathedral on Sept 11 2016.

Andrew Macwilliam - Reader

Of mature years but dubious wisdom. Married to Sue, with 2 children (who have long since left childhood behind) and 3 grandchildren. They have lived in Hartland for almost 50 years. They came, they liked it and they stayed! They enjoy walking along the cliffs and through the Vale. They find it good to live in the middle of and be a part of such a wonderful community.  Andrew has been a Reader since 2000 and is now a Permission to Officiate Lay Minister licensed to the Hartland Coast Mission Community.

Eunice Dunn - Reader

Eunice, a widow, has been a Reader within the Mission Community since 2015.  Originally from London, the family of four moved to the area thirty-five years ago to join other family members, which now spread across most of the North Devon Coast.  Her son and daughter have blessed her with six grand-children, and she continues her enjoyment of singing, Church Bell Ringing and visiting her daughter and family in Brisbane, Australia.

Vera Tooke - Reader

After having been a secondary teacher for most of her life, Vera trained as a Reader.  She is married to Graham.   They moved to Hartland in 2001 having spent 20 years abroad.  They have four grown-up children and one grandson.

Hilary Savage  - Reader

Hilary was a teacher all her working life and was licensed as a Reader in Worcester Cathedral in 2009.  She and her husband live in Cheshire but spend time every month in their cottage in Parkham.  They have three grown up children and three grandchildren –all wonderful!  Hilary has permission to officiate in Exeter diocese as well as Worcester, so feels she is blessed with the best of both worlds in ministry!
